Britta Adams
Born and raised on an island in Southeast Alaska, Britta has always found inspiration from the sea. From hours spent paddling to miles spent swimming, the water continues to pique her interest decade after decade. Even when seasons change and gale winds cover the surface with whitecaps, you’ll find her perched up high looking out, woodstove roaring, enjoying the waves from home.
Britta uses light sensitive iron salts, a process referred to as cyanotype, to develop deep blue images that silhouette coastal treasures. Looking at objects inverted in this way, almost as an X-ray, creates a layer of detail that brings interest to the eye and hopefully invites viewers to take a closer look at the natural world.
